The Central Business District (CBD) of Singapore will be livelier during the nights and on weekends, as the staid office area is set to become a certified residential district.

About four condominium projects are expected to be completed in the Shenton Way area in 2010 and 2011, adding more than 1,000 residential units to the district.

Recently, two residential projects have been launched for sale, with a third on the way, bringing a total number of condo units to 10 in the area.

Currently, the only major residential projects in the CBD area are International Plaza and The Icon in Tanjong Pagar, which yield a total number of 850 condo units, as well as The Sail @ Marina Bay, with over 1,000 units.
